Join me in Welcoming...

This is the most hilarious phrase that I have found in emails in my new company...(old company, but new company ma...) I love reading the emails which are ditto copy pasted and just altered. Heard the original was sent my the CEO 13 yrs back, and given the "respect" for "command" here, I am not surprised the format has hardly changed! More about my new adventure in the acquisition venture soon...

OK, Now for the new additions to my coveted (:P) right hand side...

Caught me unawares and instigated my lazy soul to write this post after considerable delay, introducing the bold and the beautiful Witchy Angel. Whether the above description is pun or not, it sure is fun to raft through her spicy adventures while tickling your heart with sentis now and then. Masala padam, but a lot more entertaining!

Next in line is Mr. I have been all over India but never abroad. Soon to hear the words "Welcome aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ 409" and yell his heart out, his recollections of his voyages bears little semblence of his build. But as they say, if u have the stuff where it matters (in his case, on the cricket field), nothing else matters!

Lastly, Ms. Vernacular, travelling her own bit inside south india, fluent in all the languages (means no one can spur a slang onto her and get away without her returning the "greeting", so be careful). Soft and gentle, it requires great temperment to get along with so many diverse ppl like she does...

Perception of Life

Mathematical view
If life is an ECG and time is its X axis, wont our happiness resemble the curve it plots?

If you are in love, and y axis denotes the amount of happiness AND pain in your life's timeline denoted by x axis, life will trace e power x,always asymptotic to the limit that is parallel to the y axis!

Scientific view
Life has a standard formula for everyone. Its either we accept it or we dont.

Physics analogy
If you increase the volume of a closed container, the pressure will increase and it will burst out. If you put a hole, it will ooze out and lessen the pressure. At what depth you put the hole depends on the depth of the relationship.

Philosophical view
Science is what you think you know. Philosophy is what you think you dont know. But its often the other way around!

Chemical view
There is only an ionic bonding or covalent bonding between people isnt it? Ionic bonding leads to high energy of interactions, but its easy to break. Covalent bonding leads to more stable structures and is much harder to break. We have been made up of innumerous covalent bonds. Nowadays ironically, people ignore it!

Political view
Very less people see life as the means of bringing happiness to others. The rest just curse it till they die.

Social view
Lives, like people, come in different forms. You have to accept the difference and provide for it. Some say they are satisfied with how things are, but no one is ever contented.

Poetic view
Some have huge content
Others have subtle intent
People try to view the sky from a small tent
Life is juz your understanding to whatever extent!

Cosmological view
You always strive to find whats out there and whats inside, and there is no end for both.

Biological View
There are so many things in this life that most people choose to conveniently ignore it and only see superfically. It will be really humoungous if your entire life is viewed under the microscope!

There is birth and there is death. Its all about whats inbetween!

Statistical view
You are a coin tossed around by life innumerable times having happy and sad faces, but at the end of it, when you look at it, its 50-50

Judicial view
Think a lot of times, get a lot of adjournments before you decide. The decisions you make shape or destroy your and others' lives!

Practical view
Live life as it comes till it goes!

My view
When you are sick, you get more philosophical than usual.

The Death of a Blogger

I was wondering about the analogy of death, in cyberspace. Blogging allows common people to express much more of themselves to a much wider audience (talking generally, I know mine aint worth a count) than any other medium. This means that the blogger is connected to a lot more people virtually. Though some of them take blogging as the starting point of a new relationship and take it to other traditional media like chatting n calling, most of the blogs you visit are the relationship themselves. In this context, how will a real/virtual death of a blogger impact on fellow readers? Will it be devoid of the usual "opparis" and mournings? Will it be like the night sky, where we admire the beauty of countless stars, but couldnt care less when one disappears? Will a blogger's absence be termed temporary, and as time progresses conveniently forgotten? From what I have seen so far, even a 2 week absence from the blogging scene (without prior intimation) of even popular bloggers is critical when it comes to the "popularity" of their blog. The number of comments per post reduces from an average of more than 30 to less than 10. So, it is only logical to presume that any supernova blogger who hasnt been blogging is dying a death of a white dwarf, fading away into insignificance. But what about the readers who really care? The worst fear, they say, is the fear of the unknown. "What happened to those people out there who havent written a line to outline their presence?" is a question that haunts the mind like a black hole. Ofcourse, time erodes the emotions and even the ardent blog-roller will agree that they ignore such dormant blogs during their daily scan. Worse still, what about real death? Will the readers even get to know about it? Relationships are built and broken in the real world. In the blogging scene, it just appears and disappears! Thus, cyberspace is a matter of convenience, even in death!

So for those who havent put up anything of late (esp those in my Probational and Outdated lists), you better say "Present saar", atleast through a proxy :P

(Reminds me of a joke from some "Principal/PT Master": "Those who are absent, please stand up)

Computers are Feminine...

This useless post triggered my usually useless mind to make use of my useless energy to generate even more useless facts...Trust me its useful to use this to bring a smile to someone's face :)

Computers are definitely feminine..

1. They get furiously hot when they are left unattended for a long time. Even a touch can burn you then.
2. Once u get to know them, all you do is repeat the same words (i love you/ ctrl alt del) and they misinterpret that you dont care for them anymore.
3. A simple trigger is enough to corrupt their memory (He: I juz got u 20GB of HDD space 2 months bak C: Where?/ He: I got you 2 new sarees only last month She: When?)
4. It is very difficult to end their malfunctioning processes. If want to end task their rubbish, they spawn sub threads to continue to the fight :P
5. They need lots of resources to work properly. If they get starved, they fight with u
6. Avathum computerale manushan azhivadhum computer aale ;)
7. Computer is my first love (and Im straight)
8. If its a fight between you and the computer, the computer always wins..ALWAYS
9. The only way to end the frustration is to shut down, but u juz cant be without the computer too, so u end up switching it on soon after, which invokes verbose profanities (windows was shut down unexpectedly, I know u did it, u r the culprit, accept it dammit!)
10. There can be unknown viruses that you arent aware of, which you beware, but never fully remove from the system (ex-bf, current gf, your ex-gf becoming a friend etc)
11. They are full of problems you dont want to get into, cos there is no end.
12. The outer appearance (desktop) of ur computer is always beautiful to you
13. It takes only 1 part in 1000 parts inside the computer for it to go completely haywire and it takes all of your weekend to try and resolve it. And mostly its a different problem to what you think (He: Why is she moody, I got her a present on her birthday today She: urrrr, he never got me anything for our wedding day this year)
14. When it shows you nothing, then you are in serious trouble. (He: Hey why are you sad - She: Nothing - He: Oh my god!)
15. At the end of a fight, the computer just hangs up on you and you are left to bang your heads
16. You know it doesnt serve any purpose but you end up pleading for the computer to do your work. (kadavule, pls work!)
17. When you want to rush for something is when it takes the longest to execute (Honey, hurry up its getting late for the party, pls dress faster)
18. We always joke with our friends and family that "you can have my computer if you want, its so painful", but inside, you dont feel like giving it up for anything in this world
19. When you buy, you always gape about the model and the make, just 2 yrs later, its just another computer.
20. You never know what their top floor contains (Does anyone know what F1-F12 stand for?)
21. You always think there is an easy way to escape (ESC) from any trouble but it hardly works!
22. Even your worst crap are kept safely in a thrashcan and can be revoked to your disadvantage at any time.
23. After all these trouble, still you pride that its your computer and its the best in the world.
24. Once you have had a taste of it, you never want to be away from it all your life.
25. You never really show that you care, but once you are away from it, you realise its true value.
26. The more you wait, the better you get, but you dont want to wait too long to get one.
27. If they are not "fixed", they are slim and sleek and trendy and are usually in your lap top, but if it has to stay at home, it becomes a desktop, a bit more bulky and usually has a lot more power.
28. You usually dont know where you have placed your things and your computer knows, but still if you want it to "search" for you, it will take ages!
29. A computer can multitask with ease (Hi, I am cooking, talking to u, watching sun tv and taking care of the baby)
30. Computers are really everything built into one. Enlightenment, Entertainment, Expressions all inside and still space for more.

A Letter

Dear nephew,

At the onset, let me wish you a very happy 7th birthday (end of 6 yrs). Rushing onto this world before the start of the controversial millenium (people were so impatient they made 2000 as the start of the millenium when 2001 is the rightful one as there was no 0 AD) It was a pleasure watching you come into this world, and was the first to see you once the doctors performed the initial "rites". You were pinkish, dark but you were intently watching me with ur wide open eyes. Ofcourse, you were as fair as you are after the initial few days. That was the last I would get to see you for the next 10 days as you were born with the umbilical cord twice round your neck and somehow that was linked to your dear uncle. It was agony rushing from abroad to the hospital only to enquire from hapless visitors about your well being and activities. Finally when I got to see you and name you (I was the one who decided your name from the two choices presented to me by your parents), I was really happily to spend the next couple of months by your side watching you cry and grasp your environment through your eyes. The next time I saw you, you were crawling to me, instantly recognising me. That was the best prize I could have got. You were the main reason I made it a point to be with you for 2 months after every 4 months, showering you with gifts and toys. The next visit proved exciting as after your parents struggling to make you walk, I succeeded :) I still remember vividly the first steps you took in Oppiliappan Koil to the excited cries of all relatives. I knew you were a good learner and within a couple of months, I made you play your first computer game :P At 1 yr 1 month, it was what I would call relatives' envy, my pride. Ofcourse, rest as they is history and the next time probably I shud work hard to beat you at any game :)

Two years down the road, when you stepped into my old school to continue to the legacy, I was surprised to see the mirror image of my old self, so excited about being in school, and even more surprised by sitting in front of the driver in the van (it was bus in my case) watching him drive. You even went one step ahead by refusing to come home with me and insisting on travelling by the van :P I used to love being with you and you were smart to take advantage of that, calling me "mama" if and when you wanted to get some things done. Just like your mom! Even otherwise, I would have done it for you my sweetheart :) I enjoyed teaching you all the tricks and "veshamams" even though I got blasted from alll quarters for that. I realised you are a quick good learner and I wanted to make use of it. Thats why when your thatha used to shout at you for putting your hand near the plug, I taught you how to switch it on and off properly. To become a computer buff in 5 yrs and teaching your grandparents how to do things is making your proud uncle ecstatic!

School life did soften your edges and made you very disciplined, even though you were every teacher's agony as you only talk to those people you like. They are still struggling to elicit an answer from you, even though you know everything and your amma tells me shes heard it herself. However, time should amend you further and education is all about learning, one aspect and then another. So I am not too bothered.

A year and a half back, when you got a baby brother (I always wanted a younger sibling but never managed to get), you were on top of the world, only to realise later that there is someone else vying for your parents' love. Ofcourse your parents made sure you did not feel disadvantaged and frequently praised you while admonishing your brother in front of you as a consolation. The fact that he was too young to understand those words did not deter you from beaming like only a jealous young kid can :) Ofcourse, that soon paved way for possessiveness of your bro and rubbing off some of your moodiness onto him as well.

I have never been with your younger bro that much as I have got a bit tied down with my working life, but he is proving too hot to handle for anyone. He wants to do things I cant imagine (cutting his ears inbetween the steel racks, pushing the tv onto his legs) and showcasing his boisterous nature. It is upto you now, as a bro, to shape your brother into a smart bright kid like you, as you are the only person he wants to emulate now. So mentor him and make him shine like you :)

I am feeling quite down now as I am not with you today, and wouldnt be able to see you next as soon as I had planned earlier, but my heart always goes out to you and always brings a smile thinking of you. Missing you my dear nephew! Take care. Hope this new year of your life brings you much more accolades and happiness. May God bless you my lad :)

Yours lovingly,
Dilip.

Decisions..

I have always maintained that decisions are what shapes our lives, and sometimes, it screws it. I made a decision a month back, which really has been for the worse.

But there are valuable lessons I learnt:

1. You are only as good as ur boss lets u to be...and I have learnt it the hard way.

2. Managers are leeches is probably an understatement. Probably they are the only ones who can state "Dont work 24 hrs and become tired. Work only 8, but finish off the work the 4 guys were supposed to do."

3. Working on the trot doesnt mean you deserve a break. Especially when u r caught in a legal mire.

4. Nothing hurts more than being away from the ones u love...

5. Capability in business terms is defined as the amount of work you can extract from other persons to do YOUR job.

6. Dont try to be honest to your boss. Thats the WORST thing u can do! After all, they are paid to exploit you!

7. Ironically, the worst prepares you to be the best managers. The day you learn to trade off ur kids for money, nothing can stop you!

8. There is even honour among thieves. Charactererised by selfish greed, honour (to clients, customers, colleagues, subordinates) doesnt exist in a manager's dictionary, but laced around in the vocabulary.

9. Only 28% IT Projects are a success. I know what it takes...for a failure to become a massive failure (a capable boss ofcourse)

10. If life is sweet all the time, you are not enjoying it enuf :)

Aavathum pennale...

actually, wanted to write a post on the spl gals in my life for quite some time...so here it goes for u...in chronological order

1. Paati - her will power, determination and traversals thru adversities are awesome. having 8 kids n marrying 4 gals n facing so many issues aint a joke. If you have ever read an article named "My Favorite CEO" in the Economic Times, now u know who it refers to :)

2. Amma - inheriting her will power from her mom, shes quite traditional n senti and not so daring as her mom. Shes played quite an active part in the background

3. Hems - perfect sis who played her part by thrashing me a lot for the first coupla decades in my life. Loved the fights n the special moments (of victory) that comes along with it.

4. Maathangi - the first gal i talked to online. Started out as an accident but turned into a very nice friendship. The start of my online relationships.

5. Aishwarya - one of my closest friends with whom I shared almost everything. has a special place in my heart.

6. Divya - A special friend who became closer than a friend. My first e-sis. Came into my life calling herself Shreya, but I have forgiven her for that :P

7. J - A very special gal who is in a constant inner fight between tradition and modern values. A gem of a gal who has become the love of my life

8. Ms. V - A gal I admire for her versatality and someone who inspires me with her bold nature and ability to take on challenges and be daring. Reminds me of my paati a lot for her charisma and will power.

9. Ms. A - My cute lil e-sis. Really awesome when it comes to talent and diverse interests, with whom I share a mysterious 5-1 factor :)

10. Sharana - She speaks to me through her powerful words that flow beautifully, having a structure in the unstructuredness. Her consistency in coming out with awesome verses leave me stunned and dazed. Probably the only one I want to emulate.

11. Sukku - A special friend in whom I find beauty in chaos. One with whom I like sharing happiness and sadness alike. Sometimes you just know someone is a special person, and that instinct was there the instant I talked to her.

12. Shreya - A gal who has yet to come into my life, but who can potentially vie with J for the top honours when it comes to my love ;)

And guys, dont mourn, it really depends on the mood of this lazy guy...

PS: The first ejjam went well. One down one more to go.
PPS: My sincere apologies to Smita...for the broken promise

The most melodious song I have heard in a while...
The locations in the song were awesome, costumes of asin matched the backgroud and even the colors were soothing...juz like the gentle seductive dose of melody as I heard it...
